Blasphemous RumoursThursday, June 25, 2009Clive Owen Wednesday Check out Vanity Fair's most handsome man in the world contest. Clive is #15. What?Labels: Clive Owen Wednesday Wednesday, October 8, 2008Wednesday, May 7, 2008Clive Owen Wednesday What could be better than Clive reading a book? Reading one of my books, of course, but still...the author in me loves this picture.Labels: Clive Owen Wednesday Wednesday, April 23, 2008Wednesday, March 26, 2008Clive Owen Wednesday Found this on the Washington Post site."Clive, is that you? Chancer-- Before Clive Owen was Clive Owen, he was Derek Love, the arrogant, rogue con-man star of this short-lived British hit crime series. (1990-91; out now)." (my comment--Derek Love...what a great name!) Here's a write up about Chancer on Cult. What caught my eye: "Not many shows start out as Dynasty and end up as Twin Peaks." (Okay, I'm hooked already. Those were two of my favorites back in the eighties.) And then there's this: "He (Clive) smoulders through the first season of Chancer, a wide boy wheeler-dealer with a dark past." (It just gets better and better.) And finally: "Where the first season was astonishing eye candy, the second is beautiful television. The eighties gloss has been polished so hard it shines, and the stories achieve an elegiac quality that's as indescribable as it is moving. Plus Clive Owen spends a lot of time in the bath!!! " (Bold emphasis and exclamation marks mine). Labels: Clive Owen Wednesday Wednesday, March 19, 2008Clive Owen Wednesday
Times Online has an interview with the great one. I've culled a few of my favorite quotes and descriptions:
This likeable, easy-on-the-eye, cross-gender appeal is commercial catnip to the cosmetics behemoths. A tall, dark glassful of virility, with Clooneyish dimples in all the right places. The fact that he has been with the same woman for 20 years, is happily married with two daughters and doesn’t do scandal or the party scene only adds to the mystique. Because he seems genuine. An actor, not a celebrity. A man who works hard and doesn’t whine about fame, who’s handsome but not offensively so, who looks good for 43 while still actually looking his age. What's not to love? Labels: Clive Owen Wednesday Wednesday, February 27, 2008Clive Owen Wednesday A little something to look forward to. Here's a rundown of Clive's upcoming movies:The International--August, 2008 (in production) Clive Owen, Naomi Watts An Interpol agent attempts to expose a high-profile financial institution's role in an international arms dealing ring. (I'm really looking forward to this one. Sounds like my kind of story.) The Boys are Back in Town--2008 (pre-production) A sports writer becomes a single parent in tragic circumstances. (This one, not so much. Tear-jerkers aren't really my thing.) Sin City 2--2009 (pre-production) Clive Owen, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson Johnny Depp and Rachel Weisz are rumored In the dark bowels of Sin City, Dwight plans to have his vengeance against the woman who betrayed him. (A movie about revenge starring Clive Owen and Johnny Depp. I'm am so on board with this one) Duplicity--2009 (pre-production) Clive Owen, Julia Roberts, Billy Bob Thornton A pair of corporate spies who share a steamy past hook up to pull off the ultimate con job. (Clive and Billy Bob=awesome. Julia Roberts=eh) Labels: Clive Owen Wednesday Wednesday, February 13, 2008Clive Owen Wednesday
Over on Hidden Gauntlet, they have an interesting discussion about who they'd cast in the remake of Casablanca. I know, I know, the very thought seems like blasphemy, but it's a fun exercise anyway. Here are some of their choices:
Rick Blaine: ![]() ![]() Illsa Lun: ![]() ![]() Victor Lazlo: ![]() Agree or disagree? Labels: Casablanca, Clive Owen Wednesday Wednesday, January 30, 2008Clive Owen Wednesday Very powerful scenes from the movie Bent set to the song "Iris" by the GooGoo Dolls.SPOILER ALERT. This video contains spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the film and plans to. Othe Labels: Bent, Clive Owen Wednesday, GooGoo Dolls Friday, November 2, 2007News It's Friday so it must be news day!The two online serials (Last Chance Cafe and Bedroom Window) I wrote some time ago for eHarlequin.com are now available for purchase for a whopping 89 cents. They're called minis and they've created some pretty cool cover art for them (see above). As I mentioned in an earlier post this week, Bedroom Window was one of the featured serials that ran through Halloween. It's been a good week. I found out that The Whispering Room, my third MIRA thriller, is scheduled for March, 2009, and I'm already working on the cover art. This story excites me a great deal because it combines the emotional tug of The Dollmaker with the really creepy atmosphere of The Devil's Footprints. At least that's the plan. Blog News: Clive Owen Wednesday has been a huge success. The spike in traffic on that day has been amazing (and amusing). I love it! I'm now considering a Clive Owen Week. Or why not All Clive All The Time? Can you imagine what would happen to my sales if I could somehow get him on one of my covers?! Just so you'll know, my blog schedule is as follows: Monday--"Ain't it Cool?" (Basically, whatever strikes my fancy) Tuesday--"Top Ten List (The best, the worst, yada yada yada) Wednesday--"Clive Owen Wednesday" (The one we all wait for) Thursday--"WTF?" (The what-were-they-thinking/what-will-they-think-of-next posts) Friday--"News" (and sometimes gossip) Labels: Bedroom Window, Clive Owen Wednesday, Clive Owen Week, Last Chance Cafe, MIRA, spy thrillers |
