Blasphemous RumoursWednesday, February 25, 2009Wrong!
If my twenty-five-year obsession with Depeche Mode is wrong, I don't want to be right. I'm not sold on the new song yet, but the video blew me away. It's like something from a thriller novel.

Thursday, February 12, 2009Word of the Day Kitchenheimer's--when you can't remember why you went into the kitchen. Turning in aimless circles usually accompanies this condition, followed by head-scratching and cursing, which will sometimes progress into a full-blown hissy.I'm waiting for the perfect spot to insert this word into my WIP. Thanks, Urban Dictionary! Labels: kitchenheimer's Monday, February 9, 2009Blue Monday Did you ever have one of those Mondays? I'm doing the first book of an Intrigue series called Ultimate Men (not unlike my own Quantum Men series) where all the heroes have super powers. I spent some time researching elements of the premise assigned to me, came up with a killer angle and had a great plot all worked out only to find...it was the wrong story. Doh! I'm going back to bed now.Labels: Quantum Men Thursday, February 5, 2009The Soul Detective
Ever since Twin Peaks, I've been a big David Lynch fan even though I don't always understand his movies. Mulholland Drive, for instance, kept me utterly engrossed and on the edge of my seat, but as the credits rolled, I turned to my husband and said, "Did I like that?" "Yes," he said, "I believe you did."
I recently stumbled across THE SOUL DETECTIVE online, a short film in which Lynch 'stars' rather than directs. The story "follows a psychic investigation inside the mind of a recently deceased man, before all his memories vanish." I LOVE this premise. Even more, the title. It would have been perfect for my young adult work in progress. Day late, dollar short, as they say. Lynch's dialogue from a conversation with the director is sprinkled throughout the film. "The interview was not made to be a piece of cinéma vérité, but as a sound and vision experiment, to see how an opinion can become a fiction completely different from its original intent." Ha! Sounds like the movie version of a synopsis to me. The Soul Detective from Think Tank on Vimeo. Labels: David Lynch, Soul Detective Wednesday, February 4, 2009Clive Owen Wednesday
I must say, I'm a little disappointed in the trailer for The International, but it's good to have Clive back on the silver screen. It's been too long. And if nothing else, taking on the banking industry is oh, so timely.
I'm always interested in seeing how movie posters evolve depending on feedback. Kind of reminds me of book covers. ![]() ![]() Labels: Clive Owen Tuesday, February 3, 2009Done!!!
