Alive and Well

I've been crazy busy for the past few weeks. I'm now officially in deadline hell (aka deep doodoo), so this blog will probably be pretty silent from now until July 1. Then I hope to be back with some great news, and soon after that, a blow-by-blow of ThrillerFest in New York.

Until then, adios!

The Big Idea

Another great time-waster...create your own comic strip at Toonlet.com. Here's my lame attempt:

Film Premiere

I'll be away from the blog for a few days because I'm going to Austin to see the premiere of a film called Popsicle, which was written and directed by someone near and dear to me. It'll be showing at the Alamo Drafthouse on Saturday, so I'm expecting a good time will be had by all.

Highgate Cemetery

I find old cemeteries strangely beautiful, and the Highgate Cemetery in London has to be one of the most eerily gorgeous places in the world.

"The Victorian attitude toward death and its presentation led to the creation of a wealth of Gothic tombs and buildings, and the grounds are lush with old-growth trees, shrubbery and wild flowers that are a haven for birds and small animals. The Egyptian Avenue and the Circle of Lebanon feature tombs, vaults and winding paths dug into the hillsides." (source)

Oh, the stories that are conjured by this photo! Highgate is a place I really must visit before I die (pun intended).

And to top it off, the cemetery is well known for its occult past, being the site of the alleged Highgate Vampire. More about that later...

Clive Owen Wednesday

What could be better than Clive reading a book? Reading one of my books, of course, but still...the author in me loves this picture.

Wilford Brimley Lookalikes

I'm a huge cat lover, as my former little orphans, Lola and Sid, will attest. I also love to write about cats. Give a character a cat and the whole story changes.

So when I saw a link on Pop Candy this morning for a site featuring five cats that look like Wilford Brimley, I had to click.
