News

Cynthia Fridsma has a great preview of The Dollmaker on the Heather Nova online magazine. She’s also included the trailer, my bio, and links to my website and MySpace.

Merrimon Crawford of
Merrimon Books has posted a review at YourHub.com, which is owned by The Rocky Mountain News. The whole write-up is wonderful, but what I found especially gratifying was this:

“What I most appreciated about Amanda Stevens' The Dollmaker is that she kept all the spine tingles and darkness and somehow managed to do it without crossing that line which makes me recoil. I awarded this book a 5 mostly because Amanda Stevens treads that fine line so very well.”

And:

“I would not be surprised if this book became a movie but I think I would prefer the book unless the director was really unique. I think Hollywood would take out the subtlety I love so much.”

The reviews on
Amazon have been fabulous so far, and I’ve been trying to feature one each week. This one just blew me away:

“Amanda Stevens has launched herself into the category of great storytellers of horror and suspense, such as Steven King, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, Jack Ketchum, and John Saul... my personal favorites. I hope you will do your own self a favor, and give Amanda Steven's The Dollmaker a try.”

What makes this review even cooler is that the reviewer is from Houma, Louisiana, where part of the book was set.

Just now reading this. Uh... WOW!!! What awesome news and reviews. Congratulations, Amanda. Why do I get the feeling I'm going to have to sleep with the lights on when I read THE DOLLMAKER. :)

Oh, thanks, Beth! It's a little on the creepy side, but what can I say? I grew up watching horror movies. I guess they rubbed off on me.
