News

I’m late with my news this week because Friday was my birthday and I’ve been celebrating ever since. Finally decided enough was enough so now it’s back to work.

First off, I’d like to apologize for a mistake I made in the news last time. I inadvertently reported that my next thriller, The Devil’s Footprints, would be out in March, 2007. That would be some feat since I’m still working on it. It’ll be out in March, 2008. A few months before publication, I’ll start posting teasers and chapters here on the blog and on MySpace. I’ve contracted
Lucas Amann, a brilliant young filmmaker in Austin, Texas, to do the trailer so it should be quite something. I’ll post more details as I have them.

Speaking of filmmakers and Austin, Texas, I’m working on a mystery series in my spare time that’s set in this quirky little city and features an amateur sleuth whose low-budget slasher movies go straight to DVD. She’s also a corpse cosmetician for a local mortuary and has an interesting rapport with the recently departed. It’s Sam Spade meets Wednesday Addams: a cool, morose mystery for the iPod generation.

The Dollmaker is still available in bookstores and online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Book Sense. If you haven’t picked up a copy yet, perhaps this review will help persuade you:

“Amanda Stevens takes the reader on a journey that is, at turns, heart-breaking, bone-chilling, and hopeful - a psychological thriller that will stay with you long after you finish the book.”

I have a new Dollmaker trailer up on the MySpace blog. It's not as cool or creepy as the first trailer, but it's something new to look at.

The Dollmaker is impressive in a remarkable number of dimensions. Written from a distinctive female point of view, but with absolutely authentic male characters.

And it captures the feeling of Louisiana and post Katrina New Orleans. Throw in some romance and angst, police procedural, creepy thriller, and you have a book well worthy of your attention.

Amanda Stevens knows what she's talking about, and she will involve you completely in her world.
